I. Sa Pa
 

 
Sapa is an attractive town located in Vietnam’s remote Northwest Mountains. Sapa is famous for both its rugged scenery and its rich cultural diversity. Sapa is also known as an incredibly picturesque town that lies in the Hoang Lien Son mountain range near the Chinese border in north-western Vietnam.
Many ethnic minorities live in and around Sapa such as: H’mong, Dzao, Tay, Giay, Muong, Thai, Hoa and Xa Pho, the most prominent in town are the Red Dzao. The scenery of the Sapa region represents a harmonious relationship between the minority people and nature, which can be seen perceptibly in the paddy fields carpeting the rolling lower slopes of the Hoang Lien Mountains. Sapa is voted to be the best trekking spot in Vietnam, by both natives and foreigners. This mountain is not only a tough challenge to trekking enthusiasts but also an opportunity to witness the splendid mountainous vista.

II. Ha Long Bay

 

Ha Long Bay is located in the northeast corner of Viet Nam, 165 km from Ha Noi, in the Province of Quang Ninh. Ha Long Bay covers an area of 1,553 km2 with 1,969 islands, of which 90% are limestone islands. In 1962, Ha Long Bay was recognized as a vestige and beauty spot of national significances by Ministry of Culture and Information of Viet Nam and was also recognized as a world natural heritage site twice by UNESCO organization. The first time, in 1994 for the exceptional and universal value of the landscape and the second time in 2000 for the special value of geology and geomorphology.
Ha Long Bay’s center area was regognized as a world heritage area by UNESCO and covers an area of 434 sq. Km, including 775 islands, of which 411 are named. It is bound by Dau Go island (in the west), Dau Be island (in the south) and Cong Tay island (in the east).
A buffer zone lies around the World Heritage Area, the width is about 5 - 7 km from the protection line to the sea , on moving scale of 1-2 km.

III. Trang An, Ninh Binh Province

 

Ninh Binh - charming land of myth and unique landscapes, is about 90 km away from Ha Noi to the south. Ninh Binh is endowed with many places of particular interest which have been welknown inside and outside Vietnam such as Tam Coc – Bich Dong, Cuc Phuong National Park, Trang An Grottoes and Van Long Nature Reserves. There are also many historical relics, for instances Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, Bich Dong Pagoda, Thai Vi Temple, Phat Diem Stone Cathedral, Tam Diep Defense Line.... All of them are attractive to both Vietnamese and foreign tourists. 
Trang An is visited by rowing a boat and a complete trip takes 3 hours. During the journey through Trang An, you will travel through 12 caves and 3 temples and the scenery of the nature of Trang An is just unreal. Trang An grottoes which is a gathering of 31 valleys, 50 cross-water caves, and home to 600 kinds of flora and over 200 kinds of fauna, many of them in the Red Book of Vietnam.

IV. Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc Province

 
Located 90 kilometers from Hanoi, Tam Dao tourist area in Tam Dao Town, Vinh Phuc Province, is an ideal getaway for tourists to escape the crazy, scorching heat. In summer, people rush to Tam Dao which is considered the Dalat of the North with its fresh cool air, mist and romantic scenery. 
At an altitude of over 1,000m, Tam Dao was once home to over 200 French villas, a collection of hotels and restaurants, a swimming pool and even a dance auditorium all coming together to form northern Vietnam's first hill station and health spa. Today, while the pool may be empty and the 1920's ball gowns off the scene, Tam Dao retains an element of charm and a welcome respite from the oft-well heated plains below, over which Tam Dao offers some splendid views.

V. Mai Chau, Hoa Binh Province

 

Mai Chau is located in Hoa Binh Province, 3 hours drive from Hanoi. From the top of Cun Mountain, one can admire the superb panorama of Mai Chau surrounded by a green valley and stilt houses. It is a stunning area and most people here are ethnic White Thai, distantly related to tribes in Thailand, Laos and China.
Apparently, stilt houses are on both sides of the roads. They are quite large with palm leaf roofs and polished bamboo slat floors. The kitchen is located in the center of the house on ground floor, the cooking as well as the making of the colorful “tho cam”, the material used by Thai minority to make their clothes, takes place in the kitchen. The windows are large and decorate with patterns. Each house also has a barn and a pond to breed fish.
Mai Chau can be a base for some trekking tours to the villages around, home-stay overnight on the traditional houses of the minority ethnic houses.
The Thai women are masterful weavers who ensure that there is plenty of traditional style clothing to buy in the village center. You will see women weaving on looms under or inside their houses in the village. Visitors especially enjoy the minority specialty dishes including rice cooked in bamboo and grilled wild pork meat. They also enjoy watching traditional dancing, music performance (bronze, drums, gongs), singing and dancing as well. The remote minority villages are attractive sites for visitors.

VI. Cat Ba national park

 
60km to the east of Hai Phong city, Cat Ba stretches over territories of six communes including Gia Luan, Phu Long, Hien Hao, Xuan Dam, Tran Chau, Viet Hai and Cat Ba town. Cat Ba National Park was established in 1986, with a total area of 15,200ha, including 9,800ha of land and forest, 5,400ha of marine sea
In December 2004, United Nation of Education, Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognized it as the Biosphere Reserve of Cat Ba archipelago.
Cat Ba National Park has typical complex terrain of Limestone Mountains and archipelago with steep cliffs and dangerous cat-eared rocks, forming a variety of limestone caves like a minimized Ha Long Bay. The magnificent caves enchanted tourists; some caves pass through a mountain heart of several kilometers long. The parts where sea encroaches mainland have natural rocky shores surrounding vast and flat tidal fields with dreamy white sandy beaches scattered. Alternating the strips of dense mangrove forest, flocks of birds and storks fly to gather here. Visiting Cat Ba National Park you will be immersed in the wildlife and sightsee the tourist places such as Kim Giao forest routes, Ngu Lam peak, to admire the forest of rare Podocarpus timber, climbing up the mountain Ngu Lam, from here you can admire the limestone mountains of grandeur Cat Ba.
